If you haven't heard ths project yet, I highly recommend it.Last summer, my friend Scott and I were on our way to Longmont, Colorado for a cover band festival at the Left Hand Brewing Company. It contains some incredible songs, and Dicky displays his ability as a rapper and lyricist competantly and well throughout. My personal highlights from the album are: It's a pretty long album and it doesn't exactly follow a story, but it sticks consistantly to the idea of being a professional rapper, with some nice variation within it also. I'd say there are no terrible or even bad songs on the project, a few mediocre, but that's the lowest it reaches. It's a well made song, and it's worth listening to.Īs a first album, Professional Rapper is an incredible effort. I love it towards the end when he's reached the point of shouting. He compares his rap career to that of the truman show, drawing comparisons between the two, such as the pressure to meet the expectations of the viewers/listeners. Dicky's delivery works extremely well over this beat, and he paces himself nicely throughout. It's so simple but it's extremely nice to listen to. Lyrically it's an extremely strong track and I'd highly suggest it if you haven't heard it yet. The storytelling is perfect, the hook is great, and so it the production. This song is just really good, like, there's no criticisms for it. He takes some Viagra and asks his wife, for the final time: The final verse is set far into the future, where they're in their old ages and have married.ĭicky wants to have sex, even though he's practically blind, extremely old, can barely walk and has a wife who is in a similar situation.

He also points out on the song that he originated from a nice area, and he never went through the classic struggle that other rappers did. Rather than sticking to the standard path that other rappers have set, he uses his ability and passion for comedy and uses rap music as an outlet for it. The first thing you'll notice is the feature of Snoop Dogg. The first song on the album, and the title track, "Professional Rapper" was an incredible opening to the album.
